Office & general assistant, rentals job.

Olympic Kayak Tours (OKT) is hiring for an assistant.  This person will work out of the OKT home base in beautiful Fort Flagler State Park on Marrowstone Island.   For the right candidate there is room to take on increasingly managerial roles as the business grows.

Duties

Rent out kayaks for customers in our new unguided kayak rental program, answer and respond to phone calls, online, and walk up inquiries, handle sales of merchandise, help with tidying and organizing of the OKT base, assist founder and other staff with kayak and other equipment maintenance.

Compensation

$16 to $18 hourly dependent on experience, with a $2 per hour bonus paid at the end of the season.
To ensure this person doesn't miss out on the fun, and so they can accurately describe and endorse out tours we welcome them to participate in our tours as a guest during their time off.  We also invite this person to participate in aspects of guide training in their off-time if they choose to do so. 

Qualifications

Flexibility, strong organizational and communication skills are mandatory.  We must conduct a criminal background check, though not all violations may preclude a person from employment.   If the candidate chooses to drive to work they will need a discover parking pass.

Season and hours

The position will begin in April or May and continue through the end of September, with work carrying in to October if desired.  The candidate will be expected to work 5 days a week including Thursday - Sunday, with a one additional day of the candidate's choosing.
